Deity of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is fully God. The Bible gives Him divine titles like 'Mighty God' and 'Everlasting Father,' and He accepted worship as God. He wasn't just a good teacher or a prophet — He is God in human flesh.

Interpretation Guardrails

  • •Jesus Christ is fully God and not merely a highly exalted creature.
  • •Divine names, honors, and worship rightly belong to Jesus.
  • •The incarnation means the eternal Son truly became human without ceasing to be God.
  • •Any interpretation of Jesus must preserve His true deity.

Misconceptions We Reject

  • Jesus is merely a human prophet or political Messiah
  • Christ only became divine later
  • The title “everlasting father” erases the personal distinction between the Father and the Son

The Claim

God is one person who manifests in three modes or roles — Father, Son, and Spirit — but not three distinct persons existing simultaneously at the same time.

At Jesus' baptism, all three persons are present simultaneously: the Son is baptized, the Father speaks from heaven, and the Spirit descends (Matthew 3:16-17). Jesus prays to the Father, which is meaningless if they are the same person. The Great Commission baptizes 'in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit' — three distinct persons under one name.

Original Language: Matthew 3:16-17 shows simultaneous distinction: 'anabainōn' ('going up') for the Son, 'katabainōn' ('coming down') for the Spirit, and a voice from heaven — three concurrent actions requiring three subjects. John 14:16 uses 'allē paraklēton' ('another Helper') — 'allē' ('another of the same kind') distinguishes the Spirit from the Son as a distinct person, not a mode. Matthew 28:19 uses the singular 'to onoma' ('the name') with three articles: 'tou patros tou huiou tou hagiou pneumatos' — one name, three distinct persons under it.
