Our Convictions

What We Believe

Explore the doctrines we hold to as true — and the false teachings we reject. Both are grounded in the original Hebrew and Greek scriptures.

Foundational Convictions

Salvation by Grace

Salvation is entirely the work of God's grace — unmerited, unearned, and freely given through Jesus Christ alone. It cannot be achieved by human works, merit, or moral effort. Think of it like a gift you didn't earn and can never repay: God gives it freely because of who He is, not because of anything you've done to deserve it.

Election

Before the world began, God chose a specific people to be His own — not because of anything He saw in them, but simply because He decided to set His love on them. This choice was entirely God's initiative, not a response to human action. If you belong to God, it's because He chose you first, before you were even born.

What We Reject

Unconditional Election

God's choice to save someone is based entirely on His own mercy and will — not on anything He foresaw in that person. He didn't look down the corridor of time and pick people because He knew they'd be good enough or believe on their own. No one earns or merits God's choice; it is unconditional, meaning it has no conditions attached to the person being chosen.

Predestination

God appointed the destiny of His people before the world began. He didn't just react to what people would do — He determined beforehand who would be saved and brought into His family. This doesn't mean people are forced against their will; it means God's plan is so thorough that He decided the outcome long before it happened.

Meticulous Sovereignty

God doesn't just rule over the big picture — He works out every single detail of everything that happens according to His will. Nothing escapes His control, from the rise and fall of nations to the smallest events in your daily life. Nothing takes God by surprise and nothing happens outside His purpose.

Reprobation

Just as God chooses some for salvation, He also passes over others, leaving them to their own choices and the consequences of their sin. In some cases, He actively hardens people in their rebellion as a form of judgment. This is difficult to hear, but it underscores that no one deserves salvation — God is not unfair to save some, because everyone deserves judgment.

Perseverance of the Saints

When God truly saves someone, He keeps them saved to the very end. No genuine believer can lose their salvation, because it depends on God's faithfulness, not human performance. This doesn't mean Christians won't struggle or stumble — it means God will never let them fall away completely.

Total Depravity

Sin has affected every part of who we are — our minds, our wills, our emotions, and our desires. Apart from God's grace, humans are spiritually dead and cannot choose to come to God on their own. This doesn't mean people are as bad as they could possibly be; it means every part of us is infected by sin so that we cannot save ourselves.

Irresistible Grace

When God decides to save one of His chosen people, His grace effectively brings them to faith. This doesn't mean God forces people against their will — it means He changes the will so that the person freely and joyfully comes to Christ. The same gospel that some reject is made irresistible to those God has chosen.

Divine Decree

Before time began, God ordained everything that would ever happen. His eternal plan governs all of history — every event, every decision, every outcome. Nothing catches Him off guard or falls outside His purpose, because He decreed it all from the start.

Sovereign Providence

God doesn't just create the world and step back — He actively governs history, nations, and every detail of life. He raises up kings and brings them down, directs the course of events, and works all things together for the good of His people. Even seemingly random events are under His sovereign hand.

Effectual Calling

When God calls His chosen people to Himself, that call always succeeds. It's not just an invitation that can be ignored — it's a powerful, effective call that actually brings the person to saving faith. God doesn't just offer salvation and hope someone takes it; He calls in a way that accomplishes His purpose.

Regeneration

Before a person can believe in God, they need to be made spiritually alive. Regeneration is God's act of giving new spiritual life to a person who is spiritually dead in sin. It's like a new birth — you didn't cause your first birth, and you don't cause your new birth either; God does it in you.

Authority and Lordship of Christ

Jesus Christ holds all authority in heaven and on earth. He is Lord over all creation, the only mediator between God and man, and the head of the church. Every knee will ultimately bow to Him, because His authority is absolute and final.

The New Covenant

Through the blood of Christ, God established a New Covenant that replaces the old system of laws and sacrifices. Instead of rules written on stone tablets, God writes His law on the hearts of believers. This means God provides full forgiveness, a direct relationship with Him, and the Holy Spirit living within.

Sovereignty of God

God exercises complete authority and control over all creation, events, salvation, and history. Nothing occurs outside His sovereign will and purpose. He is not surprised by anything, not limited by anything, and not dependent on anything — He rules over all.

Divine Judgment

God is the righteous judge of all humanity, and every person will one day give an account before Him. Believers are judged through Christ's righteousness, not their own; those who reject God face eternal separation from Him. No one escapes this appointment — the only question is whether you face it covered by Christ or on your own.

What We Reject

Kingdom of God

The Kingdom of God is the sovereign rule of God over all creation. It is already here in part through Christ and His church, but it will be fully established when Jesus returns. To be in the Kingdom means to live under God's rule and enjoy His blessings, both now and forever.

Divine Illumination and Spiritual Understanding

You can't understand spiritual truth just by being smart or studying hard. God has to open your mind and heart to see it. This 'illumination' is the Holy Spirit's work of turning on the light so you can actually perceive and believe the truth of the gospel.

Holy Spirit Anointing and Empowerment of Christ

Jesus carried out His earthly ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit. He was anointed, led, and empowered by the Spirit to teach, heal, and ultimately give His life. This shows that even the Son of God relied on the Holy Spirit for His mission.

The Holy Spirit's Conviction of Sin

The Holy Spirit works to expose sin and bring people to see their guilt before God. This conviction isn't meant to shame you — it's meant to wake you up so you'll turn to Christ. Without the Spirit's conviction, people stay comfortable in their sin.

The Conscience as an Inward Moral Witness

God built an inner moral compass into every human being. Your conscience bears witness to right and wrong, even when no one else is watching. It's not perfect — it can be misinformed or hardened — but it's evidence that God wrote His law on the human heart.

The Boastful Pride of Life

Pride is putting your confidence in things that don't last — your possessions, your status, your achievements. The 'pride of life' is the arrogant pursuit of worldly success and recognition. It's empty because everything it chases is temporary, and it leaves God out entirely.

Grace-Enabled Christian Generosity

When Christians give generously, it's not just human kindness — it's God working in their heart. God influences both the desire and the ability to give. True generosity is a work of grace, not a work of obligation.

Eternal Preexistence and Heavenly Origin of Christ

The Son of God existed with the Father in glory before the universe was created. He didn't begin at Bethlehem — He came down from heaven into the world. This means Jesus is not a created being; He is eternal God.

Christ as the Resurrection and Giver of Eternal Life

Jesus didn't just talk about resurrection — He IS the resurrection. He has the authority to give eternal life to whomever He chooses. If you have Him, you have life; if you don't have Him, you don't have life, no matter what else you have.

Deity of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is fully God. The Bible gives Him divine titles like 'Mighty God' and 'Everlasting Father,' and He accepted worship as God. He wasn't just a good teacher or a prophet — He is God in human flesh.

Christ Lifted Up in Crucifixion

When Jesus said He would be 'lifted up,' He was talking about being crucified on a cross. Just as Moses lifted up a bronze serpent in the wilderness and those who looked at it were healed, Jesus was lifted up on the cross so that everyone who looks to Him in faith will be saved.

Resurrection and Glorification of Believers

Believers will one day receive new, immortal bodies like Christ's resurrected body. Our current bodies are weak and subject to decay, but God will transform them into glorious, imperishable bodies. This is the final stage of salvation — body and soul, fully renewed.

Second Coming of Jesus Christ

Jesus will return personally and visibly to the world. His return will be sudden, unexpected, and undeniable. For believers, it's the hope of final salvation; for those who reject Him, it's the moment of final judgment.

The Biblical Prohibition of Idolatry

God alone deserves worship. Idolatry is giving ultimate devotion to anything other than God — whether it's a physical idol, a false god, or even money, power, or approval. Anything that takes God's rightful place in your life is an idol, and it must be rejected.

Definite Atonement

When Jesus died on the cross, He didn't just make salvation possible for everyone — He actually secured it for His chosen people. His death was intentional and effective, not a general offer that might or might not work. He actually redeemed, cleansed, and saved those the Father gave Him.

Christian Spiritual Discipline

Growing as a Christian requires consistent, intentional training — like an athlete who practices daily. This means meditating on God's Word, obeying it, and putting it into practice over and over. As you do, you grow in discernment, stability, and maturity.

Covenant Obedience and Sanctions

When God makes a covenant, He attaches blessings to obedience and curses to disobedience. Under the old covenant with Israel, this was symbolized by two mountains — one for blessing, one for curse. The principle remains: God's people are called to hear and obey, and there are real consequences.

Indwelling Gift of the Holy Spirit

The Father gives the Holy Spirit to every believer as a permanent, living presence within them. The Spirit gives spiritual life, teaches truth, and enables the believer to respond to Christ. You don't have to go to a special place or through a special person to experience God's presence — He lives inside you.

Worship in Spirit and Truth

True worship isn't about a specific location, ritual, or tradition — it's about worshiping God in the way He actually is, through the Holy Spirit and in line with His truth. Since God is spirit, the only worship that pleases Him comes from a transformed heart, not just external ceremony.

Joyful Endurance Under Divine Testing

God uses trials and difficulties to test and strengthen faith, not to destroy it. Believers are called to face these trials with joy, not because the pain is good, but because God is using it to produce endurance, character, and maturity. The testing is purposeful, not random.

Faith Resting on Christ's Word Rather Than Signs

True faith trusts what Jesus says simply because He said it — not because He proves Himself with miracles on demand. Signs can confirm who Christ is, but they should never replace simple trust in His word. A mature believer believes because God has spoken, not because God has performed.

Restoration Before Ministry

If you're living in unrepentant sin, you need to be restored to a right relationship with God before you try to teach or correct others spiritually. You can't lead someone to a place you haven't gone yourself. Deal with your own brokenness first, then you'll be in a position to help others.

Incomparable Worth of the Soul

Your soul is worth more than the entire world. No amount of money, success, fame, or pleasure can compensate for losing your soul before God. This is why Jesus asked, 'What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?'

Christ as the Wisdom and Word of God

Jesus Christ is not just a wise teacher — He is the very wisdom and Word of God in human form. Everything God wants to say to humanity, He says through Jesus. True wisdom isn't found in philosophy or human reasoning; it's found in knowing Christ.

Christ as the Wisdom and Power of God

Jesus Christ embodies both God's wisdom and God's power. The cross, which looks like weakness and foolishness to the world, is actually the supreme display of both. True divine wisdom isn't an abstract idea — it's a person: Jesus Christ, crucified and risen.

Godly Speech and the Bridled Tongue

The words you speak matter to God. An uncontrolled tongue can destroy relationships, spread sin, and bring judgment — especially for those who teach. True religion shows itself not just in what you believe but in how you speak.

Divine Forgiveness and Non-Imputation of Sin

When God forgives, He doesn't just excuse sin — He removes it completely. He covers it, blots it out, and refuses to count it against the person who confesses and trusts Him. To be forgiven by God means your guilt is gone, not just suspended.

Messiahship of Jesus Christ

Jesus is the promised Messiah — the anointed one God's people had been waiting for since the beginning. The title 'Christ' isn't His last name; it's a title meaning 'the chosen one sent by God.' He is the one who gives living water and eternal life to all who come to Him.

Individual Accountability Before Christ

Every person will stand alone before Christ and give an account for their own life. No one can answer for you, and you can't hide behind your family, your church, or your background. You are personally responsible before God for how you respond to Him.

Doctrine of Satan as Subordinate Accuser and Tempter

Satan is a real spiritual adversary, but he is not God's equal. He is a created being who can only do what God allows him to do. He accuses, tempts, and deceives, but he has no independent power to create or act outside God's sovereign control.

Image of God and Original Righteousness

God created humans in His image — not just physically, but morally. The first humans were created with upright character, a will aligned with God, and a natural desire to love and obey Him. That original righteousness was lost in the fall, which is why we all need to be restored.

Parental Stewardship and Godly Discipline of Children

Children ultimately belong to God and are entrusted to parents as a sacred stewardship. Parents must provide godly instruction and discipline rather than surrendering their children to sinful worldly influences or treating parental authority as immune from divine and communal accountability.

The Pentecostal Outpouring of the Holy Spirit

God promised to pour out His Spirit in the last days, and the events of Pentecost were proclaimed by Peter as the fulfillment of that prophetic promise. The outpouring empowers prophetic witness and accompanies the proclamation that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.

Repeated Forgiveness of Repentant Offenders

Christ commands believers to forgive a brother or sister who sins against them and genuinely returns in repentance, even when the offense and repentance occur repeatedly. Such forgiveness is an act of obedient faith and is not to be withheld merely because forgiveness is difficult or frequently required.

The Atoning Death of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ willingly died for human sins as the saving sacrifice appointed by God. His death addresses guilt and judgment and forms the basis for forgiveness, justification, sanctification, and reconciliation with God.

God Does Not Tempt Anyone to Sin

God may test faith for the believer’s growth, but He is sinless, cannot be tempted by evil, and never entices anyone to commit sin. Sinful temptation arises when a person is drawn away by his or her own disordered desires, which conceive sin and ultimately bring forth death.

Exclusive Israelite Audience of James and Diaspora Identity

The speaker teaches that the Epistle of James was addressed specifically and exclusively to the twelve tribes of Israel in dispersion, not indiscriminately to everyone. He further identifies the present congregation with those dispersed Israelites and treats that identification as both historical and prophetic.

Impartial Mercy and Material Care for the Poor

God commands His people to reject favoritism toward the wealthy, open their hands to the poor, and meet genuine needs through concrete generosity. Mercy toward the needy is an essential expression of neighbor-love and obedient faith, while hardhearted withholding and exploitation are sinful.

Fatherly Discipline of God's Children

God lovingly disciplines His true children through corrective hardship so that they may mature in holiness and obedience. Divine discipline is evidence of the Father's covenantal love and legitimate sonship, not abandonment or condemnation.

Divine Regulation of Worship and Sacred Service

God alone determines the acceptable manner of worship and sacred service. Those serving Him must follow His revealed pattern rather than introducing practices based merely on personal preference, creativity, good intentions, or worldly wisdom.

The Fall and the Entrance of Sorrow and Death

Humanity was originally created upright and without sorrow, but disobedience to God brought sorrow, painful labor, the curse upon the ground, and physical death into human experience.

Fellowship and Mutual Edification of the Church

Believers constitute a spiritual family and are responsible to maintain active fellowship by checking on one another, offering encouragement, discussing Scripture, and building one another up in faith.

Christian Thanksgiving in All Circumstances

Believers are commanded to acknowledge God with gratitude in every circumstance, including provision, protection, trials, discipline, humbling conditions, and things God providentially withholds. Such thanksgiving rejects murmuring and rests in God's wisdom, mercy, and providential care.

New Creation in Christ

Everyone who is united to Jesus Christ has entered a new state of spiritual life in which the former sinful order has passed away and God progressively transforms the believer's identity, conduct, relationships, speech, judgment, and service according to Christ.

Casting Providential Burdens upon God

Believers are commanded to entrust their fears, anxieties, losses, and providentially permitted hardships to the Lord through personal prayer, relying upon His promise to sustain them and keep them from being ultimately overthrown.

Divine Incomprehensibility

God's infinite being, wisdom, knowledge, judgments, and ways cannot be exhaustively discovered or comprehended by finite human investigation. God may truly reveal himself, but creatures can never fully search him out or master the depths of his purposes.

Eternal Life as Knowing the Father and the Son

Eternal life is the divinely given life in which people truly know the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He sent. It is granted by the Father through the Son to those given to Christ and is more than merely future existence.

Christ's Fulfillment of the Law

Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law of Moses by perfectly accomplishing the work assigned to Him and bringing the law's divine purpose to completion.

The Apostasy and Revelation of the Man of Sin

Before the day of Christ, an apostasy or general defection from God and genuine Christianity occurs in connection with the revelation of the man of sin, also called the son of perdition or lawless one. This power arrogantly opposes God, exalts itself above human and divine law, usurps divine authority, and operates through satanic deception; the teaching historically identifies this power with Caesar and Roman imperial pretensions.

The Two Spiritual Families

Humanity is spiritually distinguished between the children of God and the children of the devil. Membership in God's family is not attained through mere human decision, religious profession, denominational affiliation, or ritual, but through the regenerating work of God's Spirit; the distinction is spiritual and moral rather than racial or biological.

Christian Liberty in Disputable Matters

Christians must not condemn or scandalize one another over morally indifferent matters such as food preferences. Personal liberties should be exercised unto the Lord without placing a stumbling block in another believer's way, while the passage must not be misused to prohibit every form of moral or doctrinal judgment.

Male Teaching and Governing Authority in the Church

The authoritative teaching or governing role over men in the church is assigned to qualified men rather than women, with the restriction connected to the order and events involving Adam and Eve.

Impartial Justice and the Condemnation of Bribery

God judges without favoritism and requires those entrusted with judgment or spiritual responsibility to reject bribes, dishonest gain, nepotism, and personal bias. Gifts or relationships must never be permitted to distort justice, excuse wrongdoing, or harm the innocent.

Biblical Assurance of Salvation and the Danger of False Assurance

Assurance of salvation must be grounded in God's promises and tested by the scriptural evidences of saving grace, including genuine repentance, obedience, and the work of the Holy Spirit. Feelings, reputation, religious activity, verbal profession, and external morality cannot by themselves establish that a person is saved.

The Holiness of God

God is intrinsically holy: perfectly pure, sacred, and set apart from all sin. He zealously protects the sanctity of His name, judges conduct that profanes it, and acts for the manifestation of His own holiness rather than because sinners merit His favor.

Christ-Appointed Ministry of Preaching and Teaching

Christ appoints teachers and preachers to explain Scripture so the church can grow in truth and resist error. But their authority only extends as far as they faithfully teach God's Word. They don't have their own authority — they are messengers of God's Word.

The Latter-Day Invasion of Gog

Ezekiel 38 prophesies a future invasion of Israel by a coalition of nations led by 'Gog' from the north. Though Gog intends to conquer, God is actually using him for His own purposes and will ultimately judge him. This is a reminder that even hostile powers serve God's sovereign plan.

Reconciliation Through Christ

Sin made us enemies of God, but through Christ's death, God restored the relationship. He didn't wait for us to make the first move — He initiated reconciliation while we were still sinners. Now those who are reconciled are called to share that message with others.

Imputed Righteousness in Christ

When you trust in Christ, God credits Christ's perfect righteousness to your account. You're not counted righteous because you lived a good life — you're counted righteous because Jesus did, and His record is applied to you. It's like having someone else pay off your debt and credit their fortune to your name.

Divine Equipping for Appointed Service

When God calls you to do something, He also gives you what you need to do it. Wisdom, skill, knowledge, and willingness all come from Him. Your abilities in God's service are not your own achievement — they are divine gifts entrusted to you for His purposes.

Spiritual Light and Darkness

Spiritual light means believing in Christ, knowing God, and loving others. Spiritual darkness means unbelief, hatred, and blindness to your true condition. Christ came as the light of the world — those who follow Him walk in light; those who love evil stay in darkness and resist exposure.

Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Jesus truly rose from the dead in a physical body on the third day. His resurrection conquered death and proved His authority. It's not just a historical event — it's the foundation of the gospel, directly connected to our justification, our growth in holiness, and our hope of eternal life.

Divine Self-Revelation

God can be truly known because He has chosen to reveal Himself. He shows Himself through creation, through conscience, through Scripture, and most fully through His Son, Jesus Christ. We can't figure God out on our own, but we don't have to — He has made Himself known.

Divine Inspiration of Scripture

The Bible didn't come from human imagination or invention. God spoke through real human authors who were guided by the Holy Spirit to write exactly what God wanted. This means the Bible is both fully human and fully divine — real people wrote it, but God is its ultimate author.

Incarnation of Jesus Christ

The eternal Son of God became a real human being. He didn't stop being God, but He added humanity to His divinity. In Jesus, the invisible God became visible — so that we could see His glory, receive His grace, and know His truth.

Christ as Advocate and Propitiation for Sin

Jesus stands before the Father as the defense attorney for sinners, and His death on the cross is the payment that satisfies God's justice. Because He already took the punishment, guilty people can be pardoned. You don't need to deny or excuse your sin — you need an advocate, and Jesus is that advocate.

Redemption Through Christ's Blood

Jesus Christ frees sinners from guilt and the power of darkness through His sacrificial death. His blood pays the price to buy us back from slavery to sin. This redemption includes full forgiveness and a transfer from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God's Son.

Apostolic Eyewitness Testimony to the Incarnate Christ

The apostles were uniquely appointed historical witnesses who physically heard, saw, observed, and touched the incarnate Son of God. Their authoritative proclamation of what they witnessed is the divinely provided means by which later believers receive the truth about Christ and enter Christian fellowship.

Divine Judicial Hardening

When people persistently reject God's truth, He may give them over to spiritual hardness as a form of judgment. They become unable to see, understand, or repent — not because God is unfair, but because they chose rebellion and He let them have what they wanted. They remain responsible for their unbelief.

God's Exclusive Right to Glory

God alone deserves all glory for every good thing. Every ability, achievement, and blessing you have comes from Him. Because of this, taking credit for your own success is both foolish and wrong — all praise belongs to God.

God Is Essentially Love

Love isn't just something God does — it's who He is. The Bible says 'God is love,' meaning love is part of His very nature. This doesn't mean love is God; it means the personal God is intrinsically loving, and those who truly know Him will show that same love to others.

General Revelation Through Creation

God has made some truths about Himself visible to everyone through the natural world. When you look at creation — its order, beauty, and power — it points to a Creator. This 'general revelation' is enough to make everyone accountable to seek God, even though it doesn't tell the whole story.

Obedience and Love as Evidence of Knowing God

If you truly know God, your life will show it through obedience to His commands and love for other believers. These don't earn salvation — they prove it's real. A person who claims to know God but lives in persistent disobedience and lovelessness is self-deceived.

The Trinity

The one true God eternally exists as three distinct divine persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—who are inseparably united in the one divine being and work harmoniously in creation and redemption.

Divine Omnipotence and Omniscience

God possesses unlimited power and perfect knowledge. He is able to accomplish all His holy will, and no thought, fact, circumstance, or event is hidden from Him.

Justification by Faith

God declares sinners righteous and grants them peace with Himself through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, rather than through personal merit or works. Through Christ, those justified by faith also receive access into the grace in which they stand.

Purity and Truthfulness of God's Word

Every word revealed by God is pure, truthful, reliable, and free from falsehood. Because God's written revelation does not lie, believers may trust it, wait for its fulfillment, and receive it as the authoritative standard that exposes and corrects deceptive human speech and understanding.

Living Faith Evidenced by Obedience

Genuine faith is not merely a verbal profession or intellectual claim; it is demonstrated by conduct that submits to and obeys God's revealed word. Believers must therefore examine whether their manner of life agrees with the faith they profess.

Christian Self-Examination

Believers are commanded to examine themselves honestly by the standard of God's word to determine whether their profession of faith is confirmed by obedient conduct. This examination should focus first on one's own sins and inward condition, producing correction and repentance rather than blame-shifting, hypocrisy, or preoccupation with the failures of others.
