Effectual Calling
When God calls His chosen people to Himself, that call always succeeds. It's not just an invitation that can be ignored — it's a powerful, effective call that actually brings the person to saving faith. God doesn't just offer salvation and hope someone takes it; He calls in a way that accomplishes His purpose.

What We Reject
(1)Universal Resistible Calling
The Claim
God's call to salvation is extended to all people equally and can be resisted by any. The external gospel call is the only call — there is no effectual, internal summons.
Scripture distinguishes between the general external call and the effectual internal call. The effectual call always accomplishes its purpose — those who are called are justified and glorified. It is not resistible because it is God's creative, life-giving word.
Original Language: The Greek 'klētos' (G2822) 'called' in Romans 8:30 — 'Those whom He called He also justified' — 'ekalesen' aorist active: a definite, completed calling that infallibly leads to justification. 'Kaleō' (G2564) in 1 Peter 2:9 — 'called out of darkness into His marvelous light' — 'ekalesen' echoes God's creative 'Let there be light' (Genesis 1:3 LXX), showing the call as a life-creating word, not a mere invitation.
