Resurrection and Glorification of Believers
Believers will one day receive new, immortal bodies like Christ's resurrected body. Our current bodies are weak and subject to decay, but God will transform them into glorious, imperishable bodies. This is the final stage of salvation — body and soul, fully renewed.
Core Concepts
Interpretation Guardrails
- •Believers will be raised bodily, not merely remembered spiritually or symbolically.
- •The resurrection body is transformed by God into an immortal and glorious state.
- •Glorification completes salvation by renewing the whole person, body and soul.
- •The pattern for believers' resurrection is the risen body of Christ.
Misconceptions We Reject

- Christian hope consists merely of escaping embodiment forever
- Glorification removes personal accountability before Christ
- The believer’s future life is obtained apart from God’s work
Key Scriptures
What We Reject
(1)Soul Sleep and Annihilation of the Body
The Claim
There is no future bodily resurrection of believers. The soul sleeps unconsciously until judgment, or the body is annihilated and only the spirit continues. Resurrection is purely spiritual, not physical.
Scripture affirms a future, bodily resurrection for all believers. Christ's resurrection is the firstfruits — guaranteeing a physical, glorified body like His. The soul is not annihilated or unconscious but present with the Lord, awaiting the reunion of body and soul.
Original Language: The Greek 'anastasis' (G386) in 1 Corinthians 15:12 — 'if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say there is no resurrection of the dead?' — 'ek nekrōn' 'from among the dead ones' implies physical corpses. 'Sōma pneumatikon' (G4152) in 1 Corinthians 15:44 — 'spiritual body' — not a disembodied spirit but a body animated by the Spirit, still physical ('sōma'). 'Symmorphon' (G4832) in Philippians 3:21 — 'conformed to the body of His glory' — 'meta' 'with' shows a real, glorified physical body.
