Sovereign Providence
God doesn't just create the world and step back — He actively governs history, nations, and every detail of life. He raises up kings and brings them down, directs the course of events, and works all things together for the good of His people. Even seemingly random events are under His sovereign hand.

What We Reject
(1)Open Theism (Providence Is General, Not Meticulous)
The Claim
God's providence governs the broad course of history but does not extend to every detail. Micromanagement of all events would negate human freedom and moral responsibility.
Providence is not general oversight but meticulous governance. The casting of lots, the heart of the king, the death of a sparrow — all are under God's sovereign disposal. Nothing is outside His providential care.
Original Language: The Hebrew 'gōrāl' (H1486) 'lot' in Proverbs 16:33 — 'The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD' — 'maṣṣāʾ' (H4673) 'decision' is from the root 'to bring forth,' showing God actively produces every outcome. 'Nāṭar' (H5201) in Proverbs 21:1 — 'The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He will' — 'yāhāpōk' means to overturn, to direct as a stream.
