Spiritual Light and Darkness
Spiritual light means believing in Christ, knowing God, and loving others. Spiritual darkness means unbelief, hatred, and blindness to your true condition. Christ came as the light of the world — those who follow Him walk in light; those who love evil stay in darkness and resist exposure.

What We Reject
(1)Gnosticism and Moral Relativism
The Claim
Spiritual light and darkness are relative categories — secret knowledge (gnosis) liberates the spirit from the material world, which is inherently evil. Moral distinctions are illusory; the enlightened soul transcends good and evil.
Light and darkness are absolute moral realities, not relative categories. God is light with no darkness in Him — the distinction is ontological, not illusory. Secret knowledge does not liberate; true knowledge comes through Christ and produces obedience, not transcendence of morality.
Original Language: The Greek 'phōs' (G5457) in 1 John 1:5 — 'God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all' — 'skotia' (G4653) 'darkness' is used with the negative 'ouk estin' 'is not' — an absolute moral distinction, not a relative one. 'Krisis' (G2920) in John 3:19 — 'the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light' — 'ēgapēsan' aorist active: a moral choice, not an illusion. 'Pseudōnymō' (G5582) in 1 Timothy 6:20 — 'avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge' — 'gnōseōs' 'knowledge' is explicitly contrasted with true knowledge.
